Am I fit enough/experienced enough to go on a trip?

Of course! Our public & private guided trips are suitable for ALL skill levels and abilities. Your comfort, safety and experience are some of our top priorities. No one is ever left behind at any point in time.

I'm new to backpacking, kayaking, hiking, etc. Do you offer instruction?

First, welcome to an incredible community! We do offer world class professional instruction for all guided trips if requested. This can be completely tailored for your trip. For example, if you have never paddled, we can provide you with kayak instruction and water safety skills before heading out on the water. New to cross-country skiing? We'll discuss winter travel, gear and xc ski instruction before hitting the trails.  An aspiring long-distance trail thru-hiker and want to learn things such as trip planning, how to lighten your pack, navigation and skills for a successful journey? We can also provide coaching, instruction and a one of a kind hands-on backpacking experience for you before you hike your long-distance trail of choice. The possibilities for a customized trip are endless.

What clothing or equipment do I need to bring for my trip?

A suggested list of items is sent to everyone who books a trip with Reach Your Summit. We can always also send you one upon request if you'd like to view it before booking your trip. Lists can vary depending on factors such as location, weather and time of year. Equipment for trips (gear rental) is included for each trip and is reflected in the prices.

Can I bring my own gear?

You may certainly bring your own gear for your trip if you wish. This must be discussed and confirmed with your guide beforehand unless this was part of your trip customization [ie. backpacking coaching/consultation for your future trip(s), private trip].

What if the weather changes?

Our trips take place in sunshine, rain, snow and wind. It's all a part of nature and one that we find humbling and character growing. If for any reason we deem the weather to be unsafe for the trip we will change or postpone it. You will be notified the day before your trip if this is to occur.
