Reach Your Summit is committed to getting you out into the mountains or onto the trails and water, where you can achieve your optimal self.

Our mission is to help foster leadership skills, team building, growth in self-confidence and promote health, fitness, environmental awareness and conservation through outdoor educational experiences. We offer a wide range of diverse, private guided and fully customized outdoor trips and lessons year-round in New England. Public guided trips and special events are also available at different times throughout the year. With over 10 years of professional experience, we work with all skill levels and abilities, helping you or your group achieve your goals while minimizing risks.

Founder, Owner, Guide

Mat has made his life about exploring the outdoors and sharing all it has to offer with others. He is passionate about the outdoors, adventure, long distance hiking and connecting people to the land, seeing them grow in confidence and accomplish their goals through outdoor experiences.

 

As a professional guide since 2010, Mat has led hundreds of trips for individuals, business groups and families, taught outdoor fitness classes, given public speeches and has been an outdoor adventure guide for a World Class Five-Star Destination Spa & Luxury Property. During his time with the property, he also co-founded and created a forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) program to help others get outside and enjoy the multiple benefits of the outdoors. He is a certified New Hampshire White Mountains guide, certified Vermont Green Mountains guide and certified guide in southern New England. He holds safety certifications in Wilderness Medicine & First Aid, Kayak Water Rescue and CPR/AED For The Professional Rescuer. Mat is involved in the outdoor industry, is a former Scout and also has experience as an event coordinator, assistant directing in triathlons (USAT and non-USAT sanctioned) during the summer months leading/managing teams and operations for the races. He is also a certified Leave No Trace educator.

He has hiked over 10,000 miles and completed or hiked a considerable way on long-distance trails, including:

- The Pemi-Loop

- Presidential Traverse

- North-South Trail

- LKD Loop (pioneered)

- Taconic Crest Loop (pioneered)

And has backpacked extensively in areas, including:

- Green Mountains

- White Mountains

- Taconic Mountains

- Berkshires

- Catskills

- Rocky Mountains

- Cheaha Wilderness

Along with being a long distance hiker, Mat is also an avid cyclist and kayaker. When not geeking out with gear or leading trips, he enjoys following and reading of human powered adventures. In 2018, he pioneered a new backpacking loop highlighting history, land trusts, parks, forest, trails and more. Mat also loves to travel with some of his favorite locations visited being, Montana, Scotland, California, Nova Scotia, Oregon, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire. He lives in New England.
