#OptOutside Hike: Mt Norwottuck

Take a hike on the New England National Scenic Trail to the highest point in the Holyoke Range in central Massachussetts, Mt Norwottuck (1,106ft). The hike rises steeply from the countryside to the peak which offers sweeping views of the Pioneer Valley, Holyoke Range and more.

The 4 mile loop hike will also bring our group down to the Horse Caves (a site of historical significance dating back to 1787), before connecting to a part of the 47 mile Robert Frost Trail to make our way back to our starting point.

This trip is open to all and is suitable for beginner's looking to hike for the first time, intermediates who like rewarding views or families looking to get out for some fresh air for a few hours. There is no cost to attend this special, free event. Space is limited. RSVP is required. Waiver/Assumption of Risk documents will be on hand to sign. This event will be held rain or shine.

The gear and clothing listed below is recommended for any time you are out on the trail and for this trip. Not only is it important for us to bring these items, but it is equally important to know how to use them as well. - Take I-91N

- Take I-391N, follow signs for Holyoke Center

- Use left 2 lanes to take the High St exit

- Continue on Resnic Blvd

- Turn right onto Beech St

- At a traffic circle, take the 2nd exit and stay on US-202 N

- Exit traffic circle onto US-202 N

- Turn left onto Amherst St

- Turn right onto MA-11 N

- Turn right Mount Holyoke Range State Park (1500 West St, Amherst, MA 01002)
