About The Event
Backpack along the Appalachian Trail through Kent and close to the New York border while you learn and practice new skills, test out gear and enjoy some of the best views in the area. Sleep under the stars to the sounds of the Housatonic River nearby.
This 15.1 mile out-and-back trip will bring us through highlights such as Calebs Peak and St John's Ledges dense woodlands and include a relaxing saunter along the Housatonic River. For a look at the elevation profile for this trip click here.
This trip is open to all though you will most likely find it suitable if you are:
- First-time backpacker with some day-hiking, car-camping experience and are interested in learning to go on more overnight or multi-day trips
- Beginner backpacker who wants to improve know-how
